Tonic! is a women’s barbershop quartet who love to sing and have fun together. Our lively, refreshing foursome is just the pick-you-up you need to brighten your day!
Mary Gareau (tenor) is married with two daughters and five grandchildren. She has sung in a variety of choirs and her barbershop background includes singing with Sweet Adelines choruses in NS, BC and ON. She has also been involved in musical theatre. Her quartet experience began with ‘Skylark’ when she was with Sweet Adelines. She sings lead with the ScotianAires.
Marion Fraser-Pritchard (lead) is married with two children, three step-children and two step-grandchildren and is an RCMP officer. She plays bagpipes and has sung with the Chamber Choir at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dal Chorale and St. Paul’s/Dr. Walter Kemp singers in Halifax. Tonic! is Marion’s fourth quartet in Harmony, Inc. but her first opportunity to sing Lead. She currently also sings lead in a mixed quartet called ‘Out With the Boys’. She is a bass section leader with the ScotianAires.
Adele Merritt (bass) is married with two children and is a music teacher at Sacred Heart School of Halifax, teaching students from Grade 2-9. She studied piano and clarinet at the Royal College of Music in London, UK, and received her BA (Hons) Music from York University, UK. She joined Harmony, Inc. in 2010 and this is her third quartet. She is a bass section leader and the Music Chair of the ScotianAires.
Cathy Hunter (baritone) lives with her partner David and fur-child Millie, and works as a pharmacist with Lawtons Drugs. She joined the ScotianAires in 2005 and is currently the assistant director and baritone section leader. She was fortunate to join Tonic!, her fourth quartet, in the summer of 2014.
