Atlantic Barbershop Chorus Champions ScotianAires announce their upcoming concert “Music Speaks Louder Than Words” with guest artists Canadian singer-songwriter Allison Crowe and championship women’s barbershop quartet, Tonic!, at the Bella Rose Arts Centre, Halifax, on April 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
Celebrating their recent first place finish at Harmony Incorporated’s Atlantic barbershop chorus competition, the all-female a cappella barbershop chorus will perform songs from their repertoire ranging from composer Irving Berlin to pop group Toto, as well as upcoming music for Harmony Incorporated’s International Contest to be held in Halifax in November, 2017.
Special guest artist Allison Crowe is known for her authenticity and artistry in her live concerts. “I love singing for people,” says Crowe. “It’s a way to connect and share with others. Communication is crucial.” Crowe began performing professionally at the age of fifteen, and has since headlined hundreds of concerts in over a dozen countries. Since 2003, Crowe has released a series of critically acclaimed recordings featuring Canadiana, Celtic, jazz, roots, folk, soul and original rock. She is currently the Musical Director of “Newfoundland Vinyl” at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.
“Music Speaks Louder Than Words” will also feature crowd favourite Atlantic barbershop quartet champions Tonic!. Known for their beautiful harmonies and lively presentation, Marion Fraser-Pritchard (lead), Mary Gareau (tenor), Cathy Hunter (baritone) and Adele Merritt (bass), sing a wide range of songs from both the traditional and modern barbershop repertoires.
